Stock-trading platform for first-time investors

In Vietnam, stock trading was difficult for beginners. Most platforms were built for experienced investors, with dense market data, technical language, and interfaces that assumed users already knew how to read the market.

FiinTrade was the first product I designed end to end. As the first designer at FiinGroup, I worked with the product team to define a simpler trading experience for new investors. Through user interviews, we found that beginners needed clearer guidance on what to look at, how to compare stocks, and when information was reliable enough to act on.

I designed the product around a step-by-step trading journey, customizable dashboards, and clearer real-time market data. Over six months, I designed around 800 desktop screens across light and dark modes, working with Japanese financial advisors, local developers, and pilot users to refine the product before launch.

After the core experience was in place, I grew from solo designer to Lead UI/UX Designer, built FiinGroup's first design team of four, and established its early design principles.

FiinTrade launched in July 2019 and gained thousands of users within its first week. As of 2026, the core product structure and interaction patterns remain largely intact and support hundreds of thousands of monthly active users.
