Managing greenhouses involves balancing numerous complex factors: light, nutrients, humidity, and climate. Traditional methods rely on manual checks, resulting in delayed or suboptimal decisions. Koidra Inc. aimed to solve this challenge with DataPilot, a platform that turns raw IoT data into actionable insights.
Working solo as a part-time consultant, I collaborated with the CEO and I engaged directly with greenhouse operators in the U.S. and Canada. Those operators expressed frustration with data overload and confusion when making decisions. They needed proactive, timely insights to optimize their crop production, without changing their workflows.
Leveraging collected insights, I designed DataPilot to simplify operational data from multiple IoT sensors into visual dashboards. Operators receive prioritized suggestions and alarms, alerting them to critical greenhouse conditions. I also built the brand identity and design system from scratch.
Within one month of beta launch, DataPilot onboarded eight partnerships and integrated with 90% of legacy technology stacks. Operators reported smoother workflows, improved crop conditions, and energy savings. These results contributed to Koidra’s $4.5M Seed round in 2022, affirming its impact on sustainable agriculture.
