Problem
Greenhouse operations are complex, high-stakes systems. Operators work with vast amounts of raw IoT data buried beneath charts and dashboards, yet they miss key opportunities to optimize crop yields or energy efficiency. Their process was reactive, not proactive: manual workflows, delayed responses, and data overload slowed operators down and increased the risk of loss.
Koidra’s goal was to make greenhouse management intuitive, predictive, and operator-first.
Solution
As a part-time Design Consultant, I worked with the CEO and COO to build their flagship app: Krop Manager. It was an AIoT (aka. AI plus IoT) platform that simplifies greenhouse operations.
My first step was getting close to the people using it. I interviewed around ten operators across the U.S. and Canada to understand their daily challenges, focusing on the core questions they needed answered fast: What’s happening? What should I do next? How can I prevent problems before they start?
With that understanding, I designed Krop Manager to surface only what matters. Instead of forcing operators to decode spreadsheets or navigate complex data visualizations, the app distilled sensor data into actionable insights. Predictive alerts with voice notified users of potential issues before they escalate, and streamlined workflows reduce repetitive manual tasks.
I was in charge of designing all responsive web app on desktop and mobile, and native mobile apps so operators could manage operations on the go.
I also developed Koidra’s visual identity, from color systems to typography to logo refinement. I ensured the brand reflected their mission: driving sustainability in agriculture with AI precision.
Impact
Within the first month of beta launch, Krop Manager secured eight customer deals and achieved a 90% success rate integrating with legacy greenhouse sensors and control systems. Operators reported reduced work, quicker responses to system issues, and improved environmental control.
The product’s success also helped Koidra with its $4.5M Seed round led by Ospraie Ag Science, validating its impact as a layer of intelligence in the next generation of agricultural operations.
